The 23rd Annual WORLD RHYTHM FESTIVAL, April 8 – 10, 2016 needs YOU!

Dear past (and hopefully present) World Rhythm Festival Volunteer!

 Did you know?

  • ·         The World Rhythm Festival is one of, if not the, best and largest free festival of world rhythms and dance?
  • ·         The administration folks at our Seattle Center venue have said that their festival season doesn’t begin until the World Rhythm Festival takes place! Now THAT’s community!
  • ·         And did you know that you, our volunteers, are essential to its fun and success?

We need your cheerful help at the check-in tables, t-shirt sales, information station, behind the scenes with artists, and to help the production team on an as-needed basis. You can get preliminary festival information here: http://www.swps.org/swps.

Easiest of all is to send an email to me, Linda Khandro (Volunteer Coordinator) at lkhandro@yahoo.com to sign up. Include your preferences for days and times to volunteer, and we will do our best to accommodate those. We will send a confirmation email to say that we have received your interest email (thank you!) and about 2 weeks before the event, will send the draft schedule so that you can advise us of any changes you may need to make. The volunteer shifts are 2 hours each. The times listed below are approximate, and will be confirmed a month before the festival.

Here is how you can help:

 1. T-shirt, etc. sales table on the Center House (Armory) Floor:

When we need you:

  • ·         Friday (9 am-5pm, then 6 pm-10 pm); Saturday (9 am-5pm, then 6 pm-10 pm)/2-hour shifts; Sunday (9am-7pm)/2-hour shifts.

How you can help us:

  • ·         Sell t-shirts, raffle tickets, bottled water, and programs.
  • ·         Accept donations.

2. Information station on the Center House (Armory) Floor:

When we need you:

  • ·         Friday (9 am-5pm, then 6 pm-10 pm); Saturday (9 am-5pm, then 6 pm-10 pm)/2-hour shifts; Sunday (9am-7pm)/2-hour shifts.

How you can help us:

  • ·         Answer questions, direct people to classes, performances and other Seattle Center locations.

3. Artist Liaison:

When we need you:

  • ·         Friday (9 am-5pm, then 6 pm-10 pm); Saturday (9 am-5pm, then 6 pm-10 pm)/2-hour shifts; Sunday (9am-7pm)/2-hour shifts.

 How you can help us:

  • ·         Roam the workshop halls, ready and able to assist artists with load in, load out and set-up of their classrooms.
  • ·         Help participants find the workshops they want to attend.

4. Artist and Volunteer Check-in: Saturday is our busiest day for check in, and we really need your help here!

When we need you:

  • ·         Friday (9 am-5pm, then 6 pm-10 pm); Saturday (9 am-5pm, then 6 pm-10 pm)/2-hour shifts; Sunday (9am-7pm)/2-hour shifts.

How you can help us:

  •  ·         Help us get artists and volunteers checked in, especially people new to festival.

  • ·         Help artists find the locations and times of their classes. The floor plans and classroom locations at the Armory have changed!

  • ·         Help us check-in your fellow volunteers.

5. All-round Helper:  Things happen! The production team may need you for a variety of help or errands throughout the festival.

When we need you:

  • ·         Friday (9 am-5pm, then 6 pm-10 pm); Saturday (9 am-5pm, then 6 pm-10 pm)/2-hour shifts; Sunday (9am-7pm)/2-hour shifts.

I hope to hear from you soon,
